studio sunday - a beautiful mess...

since i know how much everyone loves organizational posts and i haven't had much free time lately between work and school, i thought i'd post a few of my favorite organizational finds...

a serving tray + 2 vanity organizers + 2 cake pans = portable project life storage. i found the cake pans at m's and everything else at target.

this container is from target as well - from the organizing section. it holds all of my thickers. they fit in here perfectly and it's easy to flip through them to find the pack i want. these are all organized by color.

eta: someone asked me for the dimensions on this bin - this is the one: itso fabric bin. hope that helps!

i brought this little non-magnetic stainless steel dish home from work - one of the benefits of working in a scrap yard. it holds all of my chipboard, metal, and wood veneer embellishments. i'm sure you could something similar, though.

these black cubes came from staples, along with the pink bins. one of the pink bins holds 6x6 paper pads (again, they fit perfectly) and the other is filled with packs of mm vintage findings. the little brown baskets came from m's a few years ago, but i've seen them recently as well. they are full of th and christy tomlinson stamps and markers and watercolor brushes - basically, stuff i use for mixed media and art journaling.

this organizer was made for me, but it'd be easy to make. it's similar to the mm embellishment center, but a bit larger - washi, mists/spray inks, twine, sequins, and distress paints/stains live here, along with jars full of embellishments that are organized by color.

leave me a comment and let me know what your favorite organizational find is... have you repurposed anything from around the house for your space?

have a great week!

  1. Wow, what a beautiful studio system! Doesn't it feel great to know where you can find what you want. I'm almost "there", but have a few untidy spots that can't seem to stay neat. One of my favorite storage pieces is a pretty cut-metal basket, painted white, and threaded with ribbon, to hold my brushes upright. Oh, I forgot, I'm also using one of those hanging rolled-towel holders, mounted to the wall, to hold large rolls of wrapping paper.

  2. I have used tea light candle holders and a pinch pot my 7 year old made to hold labels and tidbits.

  3. Great tips, Crisann! Love the shelf - look at all that washi! Wow! I am near the end of my GREAT ORGANIZING JOURNEY... and I would say my greatest finds were Vintage Wooden Textile Spools to hold my washi by colour, as well as, up-cycling old clear plastic packaging to hold flat dies. {cut pkging to desired size, stitch to same size cardstock {3 edges, creating a pocket}, slide in flat die - label...LOVE IT!}

  9. I have been using re-purposed towel bars for my Washi tape. I got several Rachel Ashwell ones marked down a few years ago. We decided not to use them but I wouldn't throw them out. Then one day it clicked that the bars were perfect for tape. I have two attached to the side of my corner desk! So much easier than digging them out of the bin they were in!

  13. I love your space! Can you tell me a bit more about your Thickets bin? Measurements, is it canvas? Do you remember the brand name? Mine are in a sterilite bin right now and I am about to outgrow it! Oops.
